LESSON PLAN - JOBS
LEARNERS: 20 ten- year –olds; beginners
AIMS OF THE LESSON:
- introducing and practising vocabulary of jobs – professions and their descriptions,
- revising the Present Simple Tense - asking and answering questions (2nd person singular)
SKILLS:
- speaking – asking and answering questions,
- writing short sentences
MATERIALS: CD player, CD, student book, photos of different professions, stripes of paper with names of professions and their descriptions
STAGES
1. REVIEW ( 5- 7 minutes)
a) learners answer the teacher’s questions about their routines: Do you..........? (Do you do your homework?, Do you play sport in the afternoon? etc.)
b) Learners tell the names of professions they already know.
2. PRESENTATION (10minutes)
a) Teacher presents names of different professions showing pictures on the blackboard
b) Learners repeat them twice, then look at the pictures in their students books and read the names of professions aloud,
c) Volunteers mime some professions and the class has to guess the names
3. CLASS WORK (20 minutes)
a) Learners listen to the CD and follow the text in their books ( “Do you drive a car?” - the quiz show about jobs),
b) Learners listen and repeat some sentences,
c) Teacher put the names of professions and their description on the board- students match the names with the appropriate descriptions and write sentences in notebooks,
d) Pair work – one student chooses a job for himself, the second try to guess his job asking what he does: Do you ...............?
Teacher monitors the pair work and makes corrections if needed.
4. SUMMARY (5- 7 minutes)
a) Learners answer the teacher’s question: Which job in their opinions is.....
- boring,
- interesting,
-difficult,
-easy, (etc.)
b) Homework – students choose one profession and describe it (5 sentences, using examples from the lesson.
