SONG: CHRISTMAS ALPHABET
SCENE 1
Mr. and Mrs Claus are sitting on chairs in the middle of the stage with one microphone (mike1). Mr Claus is making a wooden doll. Narrator stands at one side of the stage with mike2.
NARRATOR:
This is Mr. Claus, a carpenter. He lives in the cold North with his wife, Mrs. Claus. They love children very much, but they don’t have any.
MR CLAUS:
It’s so cold this winter. The children can’t play.
MRS CLAUS:
Yes, it is snowing, but it’s soon Christmas Day. What are you making? It looks very good.
MR CLAUS:
It’s a doll. Isn’t it clever? And it’s made out of wood! It’s for a girl from the village, you see.
MRS CLAUS:
Can you make more?
MR CLAUS:
Every day I make 3. I’ve got an idea! Let’s make lots of toys!
MRS CLAUS:
And we can give them to the girls and boys!
MR CLAUS:
Then, if it’s snowing and they can’t go outside...
MRS CLAUS:
They can play at home and be happy inside! Let’s make toys for Christmas and give them away!
MR CLAUS:
Then the children can be happy on Christmas Day.
They go out of the stage. Otto, Kurt and Greta come onto stage, with a lantern and some Christmas decorations, take one of the chairs to one side of the stage and sit together – Greta on the chair, the boys on the floor.
Thomas, Liesel and their Mother come onto stage, with a lantern and some Christmas decorations, take the second chair to the other side of the stage and sit together – Mother on the chair, the children on the floor.
SCENE 2
NARRATOR:
On Christmas Eve, Mr and Mrs Claus take a huge bag with toys and walk to the village to give the toys to children.
Mr and Mrs Claus walk onto the stage carrying a huge bag with toys, take mike1 and walk to Otto, Kurt and Greta. As they talk, the mike is taken by each who speaks.
MR CLAUS:
Hello, Otto.
OTTO:
Hello, Mr Claus, how do you do?
MRS CLAUS:
Look, what we’ve got. Presents for you, Greta and Kurt!
ALL CHILDREN:
Presents! Yippee!
KURT:
Look, it’s a horse! It’s really great! Thank you, Mrs Claus!
OTTO:
Greta, what have you got there?
GRETA:
Look, Otto, it’s a little brown bear!
MRS CLAUS:
Goodbye everybody!
OTTO:
Merry Christmas to you!
MR CLAUS:
Remember dear children to be always good!
MRS CLAUS:
And then Mr Claus can bring toys of wood.
NARRATOR:
So, every year, Mr and Mrs Claus make toys. On Christmas Eve they give them to children.
Mr and Mrs Claus move to the other group of children.
MR CLAUS:
Ho, ho, ho! Happy Christmas! These are for you!
LIESEL:
A doll!
THOMAS:
And a soldier! They’re lovely! Thank you!
MR CLAUS:
Now be good and be happy all the year long.
LIESEL:
I promise.
THOMAS:
I promise, too.
MRS CLAUS:
Now, we must get along!
MR CLAUS:
Ho, ho, ho! Goodbye, children. Now we must go on.
MOTHER:
Merry Christmas! Goodbye!
THOMAS AND LIESEL:
We love you, you know!
All children move onto the stage for the song: Jingle Bells.
SONG: JINGLE BELLS
After the song, everybody stays on stage, move into the backstage and sit down.
Narrator, Angel with a lamp, two elves and two reindeer stand by mike2. The Clauses walk onto the stage to mike1.
SCENE 3
NARRATOR:
The next Christmas Eve, there’s no snow. Mr and Mrs Claus are very cold. An angel sees them.
MR CLAUS:
Oh, dear! It’s so cold and now it is night!
MRS CLAUS:
Santa, look! What’s that light? I’m scared, Mr Claus!
MR CLAUS:
Who are you? Please, tell!
ANGEL:
I’m an angel, don’t worry, I’m here to help. Here, take this coat. It’s magic, you know! Put it on and feel warm in the ice and the snow. You’re both very kind. You were always good, so these are your helpers.
ELF 1:
We’re elves. How do you do?
ELF 2:
We’re fast, we’re hardworking, we are very good.
ELF 1:
We can make lots of toys and not just of wood!
ANGEL:
Look, these magic reindeer can help you fly.
MR CLAUS:
And the elves can help us to make toys in the sky.
ANGEL:
Now you can take presents to all good children everywhere.
MR CLAUS:
Thank you, dear angel. What a wonderful idea!
MRS CLAUS:
Now we can give presents year after year!
The children from backstage come to front, the others get on stage for the final song.
SONG: WINTER WONDERLAND.
